Debut single remembers Adamski

Traditional-music star Khabo Mazivelela has released a debut single that pays tribute to Adam Ndlovu.

A legend and former Warriors and Highlanders gunman, Ndlovu was tragically killed in a horrific car accident alongside model Nomqhele Tshili (24) when a BMW X5 being driven by Adam’s brother Peter Ndlovu veered off the road and uprooted several trees near the Victoria Falls Airport along the Bulawayo road in December last year. Entitled ‘Born Hero’, the track highlights the good works of Ndlovu while still on earth.

“Considering Ndlovu’s patriotism to the country and its citizens, I thought it befitting to bestow him this song highlighting his excellent exemplary life. My heart still bleeds when I remember him, and this song talks of him off and on pitch – what a rich talent, gone too soon. I hope and believe this song will heal the country of its wound and encourage others to change their way of living and emulate this fallen hero,” the 36-year-old Mazivelela told The Zimbabwean.

Mazivelela first broke into the music scene in 1995, where he joined then Bulawayo-based Ndebele mbaqanga group, Isizukulwane, for a relationship that spanned the next four years.

In 1999, he left the band to seek greener pastures in neighbouring South Africa, where he continued to sing on a part-time basis and recorded his debut album, ‘the beginning/Shikisha’ in 2004, which was a flop due to poor marketing.
