The booklet entitled, “Fighting sexual harassment” addresses concerns of women in the media through the use of testimonies and encourages them to speak out.
“This booklet is like a toolkit for female journalists,” said Patience Zirima, Acting Chairperson of FAMWZ. “We want to create an environment that is conducive for both men and women. Most women do not stay in this field because of sexual harassment.”
She said most newsrooms did not have a code of conduct, a trend which perpetuated sexual harassment.
FAMWZ has been working with the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists in addressing issues of sexual harassment in the newsroom.
