The 24-year-old reigning Zimbabwean Golden Boot Award winner joined Celtic on a three-year deal in January, but has remained on the sidelines due to a delay in the processing of his work permit by the South African Home Affairs Department.
“We applied for Roderick’s work permit some time ago and we are still waiting,” said Sello Nduna, the club’s publicist early this week. “It is a bit difficult for me to speculate as to when we will get it but we are hopeful that it will come soon. He looks sharp and quick at training, so I guess as soon as he gets his permit, he will start playing.”
The former Dynamos centre-forward, who will wear the Number 27 jersey, said he was eager to retain the form that saw him finish last season as the Castle Lager top scorer. He scored 14 goals for his former club during the 2011/ 12 season
“I am working very hard at training and I want to score more goals and make sure I do my best to see the team compete for trophies,” he said. “I want to prove myself in the Premier Soccer League. I’m still young and I know how to score goals. My confidence in front of goal has improved and I really can’t wait to make my Celtic debut. It would be fantastic to play in front of the supporters that I always admired.”
