MDC will not unite: MDC-N

The MDC led by Welshman Ncube will never join forces with other political parties to fight President Robert Mugabe and Zanu (PF), said MDC Spokesperson, Nhlanhla Dube.

“As much as we would have loved to form an alliance to get rid of Mugabe, history has taught us that such a joint force is impossible. We offered to be part of such an alliance in 2008 and went into it with everything we had only to be ditched at the last minute. We have what it takes to go it alone,” said Dube.

Dube said it was naïve for other parties to recommend that Zimbabweans be deported from the Diaspora before the country was ready to accommodate their return.

“The forced deportation of Zimbabweans is not at all positive. While we encourage Diasporans to consider returning home and investing in their country, we are not oblivious to the reality that many of our brothers and sisters need time, resources and logistical support to make their return possible.”

MDC-T Spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora said an alliance to topple Mugabe through the ballot was a noble idea.

“We have always been free to be part of a collaboration of progressive forces to dethrone Mugabe. Naturally the progressive forces should rally behind Morgan Tsvangirai,” said Mwonzora.

MDC99 President Job Sikhala maintained his strong position that: “Time has come for the formation of a united front against the ‘indicative’ dictator. Those opposing Mugabe need to join forces to achieve their goal”.

Analysts were quick to point out that in a free and fair election, some political parties could easily beat Mugabe.
