The club is situated on the outskirts of the city and will play host to legendary names such as superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Sam Mataure, Bob Nyabinde, Steve Makoni, Freddy Gwala, amongst others.
The new acquisition coincides with the rebranding of his stable – G3 BigFun Entertainment – to a yet undisclosed trade name. Under the stable Big Fish is the proprietor of the popular Soul City, formerly known as Sports Café, which mainly gives prominence to the younger generation.
Big Fish told The Zimbabwean that his move to take over Vida Da Pass was meant to close a market niche by providing the mature audience a comfy hideout place.
“We have identified that our mature audience were not catered for in terms of entertainment that they could relate to. So Vida Da Pass is going to close that gap. We will be bringing in big local names as well as hosting other names from as far as Mozambique and South Africa,” said Big Fish.
Big Fish’s move comes at a time when Mutare has witnessed the mushrooming of several music promoters. It will also bring stiff competition from promoters such as TnP Entertainment, business mogul Isau Mupfumi who owns Pick ‘n’ Save and Chapter One Leisure Centre owner Tendai Chitowa.
Big Fish boasts of over a decade in the industry, having made his mark during his tenure as the manager of Gulliver’s Club before establishing his own empire. He broadened his resume when he was still in charge of Pavillion Leisure Centre, where he featured household names such as Tuku, Leonard Zhakata, Winky D, Stunner, Sniper Storm, Zoey and the Red Angels, amongst other notable names.
