The South Africa group led by Kelvin Onuoka has engaged the Zimbabwe Minister of ICT, Nelson Chamisa, and other stakeholders.
“We have liaised with some interested South African ICT experts and business people wishing to invest in Zimbabwe. We have had talks with the Ministry of ICT in Zimbabwe on policy matters, public practice, partnership models, corporate governance best practices and IT solutions,” said Onuoka.
Minister Chamisa said there was a need to highlight the importance of ICT in the development of Zimbabwe.
“The ministry has plans that include a massive campaign to have personal computers and internet connectivity in schools, government offices and households. We also want to improve the industrial sector,” said Chamisa.
Chamisa urged the regional and international companies to invest in the survival of the ICT sector.
“We are working on a strategy to lure back Zimbabweans in the Diaspora through ICT training and development programmes. We hope that we will create more investment opportunities for Zimbabwe,” said Chamisa.
