TZ observes Tennis Day

Tennis Zimbabwe will on Monday join some of the world’s leading tennis stars in celebrating the inaugural World Tennis Day.

The celebration is part of the International Tennis Federation’s Centenary activities. Zimbabwe will join 15 other countries where national associations will host activities, focusing on the International Tennis Federation’s Tennis10s programme, meant to promote the use of slower and lower bouncing balls, shorter and lighter rackets and smaller courts, to make it easier for children to take up the game.

The programme also supports the Tennis Play and Stay campaign, an ITF global initiative launched in 2007 and aimed at increasing tennis participation worldwide.

“This initiative will also give our member nations a great opportunity to draw extra attention to what they are doing to grow tennis in their countries.”
