Constitution the key to unseating Mugabe: Komichi

Voting for the draft constitution at the referendum is the only way to end President Robert Mugabe’s stronghold on power, MDC-T deputy national chairman Morgan Komichi has said.

Komichi was addressing party members at Moffat Hall in Sakubva last Friday during a constitutional public address.

“As Zimbabweans, we are now heading to Canaan and this constitution is the River Jordan. It’s the Ark for us to reach the Promised Land, away from an old and tired leader whose health is now unstable. We now need new blood in the form of Morgan Tsvangirai and this can only be achieved by voting yes for this constitution next weekend,” he said.

The MDC-T non-constituency Senator and Deputy Minister for Transport and Infrastructural Development further urged party members to tell people from other political parties to vote yes.

Komichi warned his members about those working against the adoption of the draft constitution: the National Constitutional Assembly chairperson Lovemore Madhuku, rigid Zanu (PF) members and fellow MDC-T members de-servicing the party by not mobilising their constituencies.
