The farmer, who cannot be named for security reasons, reportedly agreed to use his tractors, earth-movers and a bulldozer to upgrade the town centre and residential roads around Marondera.
Town Mayor Farai Nyandoro secured the deal during his recent engagement with members of the business community.
According to the arrangement, the farmer would provide the equipment and the council would meet the fuel costs.
“We made an agreement with the farmer and expect to upgrade our roads soon,” said Nyandoro.
However, highly placed sources at the council told The Zimbabwean that some top Zanu (PF) provincial members had approached the farmer and warned him against assisting the cash-strapped MDC run council.
Following the alleged threats, the farmer reportedly withdrew his tractor from the task and feigned mechanical faults on the earthmoving equipment and dozer.
Most gravel streets around Marondera residential suburbs are impassable and the tarred town roads are all full of potholes.

Elections are around the corner and Zimbabwe will not need the farmers tractor,we will use the money from the minerals as when ZPF goes the money will be available. God bless our country Zimbabawe and the people will be rewarded for being and remaining humble for we know no better
Does this mean ZPF prefers the country to collapse? Everything has to go to ruign.
