Don’t settle for second best

EDITOR - Zimbabweans need to come together as a nation and hatch a plan to bring dignity to us as a nation. We cannot be defined by race, colour or political affiliations. We shall never be blindsided by the Zanu (PF)-MDC power struggle. The question we should be asking ourselves is ‘will the advent of the new constitution usher in a platform for growth?’

Vice President Mujuru must understand that international observers do not vote but all Zimbabweans do. Instead of channelling our energy into digging the country out of the mud, the political elite are concentrating on trivial matters. Zanu (PF) must understand that denying the International community observation rights is not working in their favour as further strains a fragile relationship.

As a nation we must not accept dictatorship and violence as these practices go against the code of morality. I understand that elections give a lot of people nightmares as memories of past experiences seep into the dreams but they are the only gate to our redemption. Zimbabwe shall not be lulled into a false belief that we are free. As a nation we shall never settle for second best. – Clement Jamela , by email
