Gwekwerere wants his money

Evans Gwekwerere is happy to be plying his trade with Botwsana’s Township Rollers, but that does not mean he has forgotten about the money owed to him by Caps United.

The talented yet outspoken footballer told The Zimbabwean this week that he was not backing down on demands for his $1,000 October salary from the club that cut ties with him late last year, following disciplinary run-ins with former assistant coach, Lloyd Chitembwe.

“Caps are refusing to pay my October salary, but my move to Botswana will not stop me from fighting for my money,” said the striker who has also played for Dynamos and South African sides, Moroka Swallows and Jomo Cosmos.

“I have approached lawyers who are willing to help me because Caps are trying to exploit me. I played my part in the team, but they don’t want to show some appreciation.”

Gwekwerere ditched Dynamos for bitter rivals Caps in 2011, on allegations that they were failing to pay players well. He also claimed the club owed $15,000 in signing-on fees
