The yet-to-be-titled 12-track album urges Diasporans to ‘always remember their roots’ and it differs from Marabini’s previous offerings.

“I am shifting my focus to an international level with assistance from Ramadu. He is the right man to see me achieve my goal. My upcoming album is a bit different from my previous albums because it’s more acoustic. I have taken a step forward now as I want my music to be followed world-wide. Included in the album are hit tracks Silo, Khumbulekhaya, Ngizohlalanginawe among other nine tracks,” said Marabini.

This will be the third time Marabini has recorded an album outside the country as his last two albums were recorded in South Africa.

The 40-year-old musician’s career has grown in leaps and bounds since the 1990s when he performed with traditional music groups such as Sunduza Boys and Black Umfolosi. He has produced six albums: Emarabini, Thuthukani, Ngothando, Sounds of Today and Tomorrow, One continue from 1Time, Izenzo and Jeys at 40.

Some of his all-time hits include Uthando lwakho, Umuzi Kababa, Amalungelo, Ezinyangeni and Julia, which he did with the late Nana Coyote of the group Stimela.

He has performed at some of the world’s biggest festivals such as Womad Lamatree, Glastonbury and Edinburgh.
