Perhaps you will remember that Mhlanga was a columnist with Ndebele Newspaper, Umthunywa, where he focused on children’s issues. He also wrote for the Southern News newspaper, which circulated in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana.

However, Mhlanga is now the man behind Nonoza Enterprises, a Business consultancy company named after his daughter Nonsindiso, which he co-directs with wife, Nontobeko Patience Mhlanga.

Nonoza Consultancy mainly deals with government offices and offers a range of services varying from assisting in obtaining work and residence permits, company registrations, tax clearance certificates, vat and tax clearances, business plan development and evaluation, case study development and much more.

“Teaching was popular until around 1998 when things started dwindling and being a teacher was just as good as being a beggar. I never dreamt of leaving Zimbabwe but In December 2005, I got a job offer as Marketing and Administration Manager in Botswana.

“The Pula was very powerful when compared to the Zimbabwean Dollar and I had a family which need to be catered for,” said Mhlanga.

From 2006-8, Mhlanga served in this senior position and gained vast experience in business matters.

“In 2006 I was appointed a senior Marketing and Administration Manager by Marang A Letsatsi and Njema Enterprises. This discipline helped me to successfully run my own company and I was nominated Marketing person of the year for Marang A Letsatsi. This eventually led to me starting Nonoza Enterprises in 2009, and since then I have never looked back.”

A hard working linguist, Mhlanga thrives to build excellent and professional working relationships with hope of growing big in the industry.

“I have helped a lot of Zimbabweans and fellow Africans in registering their businesses, permit applications and project developments. It’s not as easy as one might think, Business Consultancy is all about building trust with your customers. I always want to build a better working relationship for myself and clients.

I speak Ndebele, Kalanga, Shona, Tonga, Nambya, Tswana and English. This has brought positive results to my company. Customers are very confident when you can speak their language,” said Mhlanga.

Mhlanga also highlighted that the growth of economy in Botswana was slow, but the government was trying its best.

“Economy here is slowly growing and this affects my business a lot. We need to grow business environments so we reach the level of South African industry.”
