After the province recently won the bid to host the games, Christopher Gwatidzo, Chief Executive Officer for the Local Organising Committee, said the province would use its vast mineral wealth and generous stakeholders to make it a beacon of glitz and glamour.
“We will hold one of the best editions of the games ever and shame all the prophets of doom who do not believe in us,” said the Midlands State University Dean of Social Sciences.
The province needs $144,000 to host the event and the LOC was optimistic of meeting the target. Previous editions, held in Chinhoyi and Gwanda, were marred by logistical chaos and many hope that Midlands will be an exception.
Regional Sports and Recreation Commissioner, Simon Masaka, said the athletics competition of people living with disabilities would roar into life on April 3 and be wrapped-up four days later.
