The MDC-T provincial spokesperson for Mashonaland East, Graham Nyahada, confirmed the incident.
“After police were given the names of the perpetrators, no action was taken and the youths are still walking scot free,” said Nyahada.
He said that the move to destroy Nyakatembo’s house followed numerous threats on her life by Zanu (PF) supporters.
“They are simply trying to instill fear in her so that she gives up on campaigning for the MDC-T,” said Nyahada.
When contacted for comment over the issue, police Provincial Spokesperson for Mashonaland East, Inspector Bulisani Bhebhe, said that he was not aware of the issue.
Efforts to get a comment from the Officer in Charge at Nyamapanda Police Station, Chief Inspector Dominic Madzikanda, were fruitless.
