Radio Dialogue manager still to appear in court

Radio Dialogue production manager Zenzele Ndebele arrested in connection with the 180 shortwave radio sets that were raided and confiscated by police from his workplace is yet to appear in court.

Ndebele was arrested on 1 March 2013 and subsequently released into the custody of his lawyers on the same day.

Police had indicated that they would call Ndebele summoning him to court on 6 March 2013, but they have not yet communicated on the expected court appearance time and date of the hearing.

Ndebele had initially been charged with possession of smuggled goods in contravention of Section 182 of the Customs & Excise Act. He was, however, slapped with a further charge of possession of a radio receiver without a valid ZBC licence in contravention of Section 38 of the Broadcasting Services Act, was added.
