Website upgrade for TZ

The Zimbabwean’s website has this week been seamlessly migrated to a new cloud database. The download speed of material from the site all over the world is now much faster – and access to the wealth of information stored since the newspaper began in February 2005 is now available to researchers much faster than before.

The migration has also enabled the site, accessed by around 50,000 unique visitors from 40 different countries every week, to cope better with spikes in traffic and higher usage levels from visitors. The Editor, Wilf Mbanga, said he was delighted with the results of the upgrade.

“Since its inception The Zimbabwean has focused on being a newspaper of record. The accumulated volume of information, interviews and photographs paints a picture of what has happened in our country since 2005. Much of this information happened during a virtual news blackout, so it is vital that this remains easily accessible for posterity. The new cloud database makes this possible,” he said.
