The album was supposed to have been released last August. “I have been working on this album for the past year; I am finally mixing it and happy with the progress made so far. This album will be out this month-end and I hope all my fans will receive and embrace it as it highlights social issues,” said WeUtonga.
“ I always talk of everyday life and social issues through music. The album title suggests a continuation of my growth in the industry and the brightening of the new day. If there is an overall message conveyed in this album it must be urging people to be liberal and balance it with being responsible,” she said.
“I am very grateful Elton Mujanana, Bothwell Nyamhondera, Tamie Bimha and Robert Machiri who made it possible for this album to be completed,” added WeUtonga.
Selected as NAMA outstanding actress for a one woman play early this year , WeUtonga rose to fame through her sole debut album ‘Utonga’ meaning dawn in 2010. She began her career in the late 90’s while performing with the Army Band at Brady Barracks in Bulawayo where her father was stationed.
She has also featured for groups like Siyeza Jazz and an all-female ‘jazz’ group Amakhosikazi.
