Zanu(PF) suspends two officials in Byo

Two senior Zanu (PF) officials in Bulawayo were suspended from the party over the weekend over allegations of insubordination and fraud.

Highly placed sources in the party told the Zimbabwean that Langelihle Mathe, the party’s provincial secretary for finance and Simon Khabo were suspended from the party following a meeting which was held at Davies hall, the party’s provincial headquarters.

“Khabo was suspended for allegedly starting a fire in his office, allegedly to conceal evidence over some missing party funds. Mathe was suspended for having an altercation with the party's provincial chairman, Killian Sibanda over the use of party vehicles. The two have already been served with their suspension letters,” said a party source who spoke on conditions of anonymity.

Last year, part of the Bulawayo provincial offices were burnt by fire. The fire only affected the party’s finance department, destroying financial records and party cards, prompting speculative reports that it was an inside job meant to conceal a criminal activity.

Mathe confirmed his suspension.

“Yes I have been told that I was suspended but I have not yet received official communication” he said. Khabo who lost the provincial chairmanship’s post to Sibanda could not be reached for comment.
