She blasted Zimbabwean youths for allowing themselves to be manipulated by old people who imposed Sikhosana on them.
“I was very shocked to see a more than 60-year-old man introducing himself as a fellow youth leader in our Youth from Liberation movements conference recently. This must come to an end; Zimbabwean youths must unite and fight from one corner because that man is just there to suppress their views while promoting his old partners’ ideas. If Zimbabwean youth allow that to prevail then there is no future for them as their old leaders will always push their agendas whenever they try to implement any youth activities,” said a senior member of Frelimo Youth League speaking on condition of anonymity.
“We didn’t feel comfortable throughout the recent SADC youth conference as that man kept suppressing our views. You could sense that he was an old man as his approach was not relevant to youth matters. He should stop pretending to be a youth,” she added.
Another member who also refused to be named said, “Next time we will not tolerate having an old man coming to disturb our conference.
Youth issues must remain youth issues, we don’t want a sent old informer disturbing and diluting our youth agendas,” he said.
Sikhosana rubbished the criticism, saying “Politics is not about age, but your brains. I am here to stay as a youth leader, period.”
Last year media reports quoted some party youths calling for Sikhosana to go, saying he was not suitable to lead the youth as no one took him seriously.
