This has been worsened by the Harare giants’ early exit from the African Champions League. Dembare, 11th position on 16-team log, have showed hopelessness when coach Kalisto Pasuwa ran out of words after their weekend draw against debutants Triangle, which ended 0-0.
“I do not know what to say now,” said Pasuwa, who claimed to have exhausted his winning formulas without success.
After the Triangle match, a section of supporters from the notorious Vietnam Stand blocked the team bus, which was on its way out of the stadium and demanded to be addressed by the coaches.
Others sought to physically manhandle club secretary, Simon Sachiti, who eventually locked himself up in a stadium office. During the match, two fans invaded the pitch smeared some unknown concoction on the goal area, in a sterile attempt to “break the curse”.
Players also showed frustration through their hasty touches, indecisiveness and ill behaviour that culminated in goalkeeper George Chigova seeing red.
Highlanders conceded their first home defeat since last season in a 0-1 loss to Motor Action, which saw them slip to three points behind leaders FC Platinum, while Shabani Mine still anchor the 16-team log with one point, although coach, Arnold Jani, said they were not in panic mode.
