The fight for freedom

When I used to herd cattle as a small boy I learnt that cowards thought shouting obscenities was a sign of strength. Older boys at the pastures often targeted the vulnerable and they never learnt that burning the candle at both ends doubles their time in darkness.

Patriotism is a noble virtue but only in defence of freedom. God bless the day when all Zimbabweans realize the true purpose of the freedom struggle that so many fallen heroes lost their lives for; the freedom that some work so hard to deny others.

Desmond Tutu observed that, Umuntu umuntu ngabantu, meaning, “A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed”. – Samuel Pachawo, by e-mail
