“Harare” has not seen as many games as he would have wanted at the league championship-chasing Soweto giants, but whenever he has been called into action, he has performed impressively.
One of those occasions was when the Warriors central defender was used in a Nedbank Cup quarterfinal match away to Bloemfontein Celtic, where he was a pillar in the Chiefs defence and subsequently won the man-of-the-match award as the Amakhosi snatched a 1-0 victory.
This led Chiefs to their first Nedbank Cup semi-final spot since 2005/2006 season and set them up for their first league and cup double since 1992.
Playing alongside Tefu Mashamaite in central defence, Zvasiya was solid at the back and a threat going forward, scoring a header that saw his side through.
“He has come in handy in cases of rotation and injuries, especially with all the travelling we have done,” said Baxter. “Every time he has been called into action, Zvasiya has done very well for us. It has been a bit difficult for him breaking into the starting line-up, but like all my other players, he knows that I believe in him and I am very happy for him.”
The Briton was also impressed with the conduct of the former Zimbabwe Under-17 skipper. Zvasiya expressed gratitude to the coach, who has kept faith in him. “Both the coach and the rest of the technical team have been unbelievable to us and we go to the pitch to fight for them and the badge on our jerseys,” he said.
“I will continue to work hard at training and grab every opportunity presented to me. I am still honoured to be playing for such a great club and it is my dream to win something with the club. We will not rest up until this happens.”
