As the chair of the Advisory Board of Manicaland Business Action
 Group, Nyabadza said the cabinet had “dismally”
failed to come up with solutions to the problems bedeviling the country’s
economy.
He cited the tug of war between Zanu (PF) and MDC over the re-opening
of Chisumbanje ethanol plant as an example.
He said the issues stalling the resumption of production at Chisumbanje
were purely political.
The ethanol plant is now stalled amid reports that it failed to find a market. However, insiders accused Elton Mangoma, the Energy Minister, of attempting to derail it.
Nyabadza described some ministers in the government as parasites who were just sitting in the cabinet for selfish gain. “They don’t care about people’s lives. There is no consensus and there is lack of universal political will. It is not technical or financial,” he said. Nyabadza said that by now, the ethanol plant should have created 9,000 jobs and saved the country millions of dollars.
There is a push for mandatory fuel blending using ethanol from Chisumabanje, with Nybandza saying the matter was now in the hands of an inter-ministerial committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara.
