Bishop Trevor Manhanga officiated the event, which attracted only a small crowd of about 20 people. It coincided with the three day Mutare Music Festival organised by Chipaz Promotions where top music acts were performing at the Pick ‘n’ Save, a stone’s throw from the theatre.

Manhenga gave a mouth-watering performance, taking her fans down memory lane as she churned out her old numbers and some of the gospel songs from her new project. The gifted vocalist is married to Mutare born artist Blessing Muparutsa. She was backed by resident gospel band Reverb.

“I am very happy to be here with you tonight. As you are aware, I am a muroora (daughter-in-law) here, so Mutare is very special to me. I am also relieved that this album is finally out. I wrote some of the songs as early as 2005. I am relieved that this project is out. It’s like the prison gates have opened,” she said.
