Madzore’s lawyer, Charles Kwaramba, from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, told The Zimbabwean today that his client is detained at Bindura police station and is expected to appear in court to answer to the charges on Monday.
“He (Madzore) is being charged for contravening Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for undermining the office of the President through allegedly calling the President a limping donkey.
“We obviously deny the charges and we expect that we will be going to court on Monday,” said Kwaramba.
Madzore was summoned by the Zimbabwe Republic Police Law and Order Section yesterday after which he was transferred to Bindura Police Station.
Madzore, together with 28 other party activists, is currently on bail for the alleged murder of senior police officer, Petros Mutedza in Glen View in 2011.
However, the MDC-T has since dismissed the charges against Madzore and the other 28 as trumped up.
Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai is on record accusing Zanu (PF) of abusing its overbearing influence over the police and judicial sector to persecute his party supporters.
Madzore and other party activists being accused of murdering Mutedza spent more than a year in jail before being granted bail.
