Amos Chibaya, the Mkoba MP however pulled through after garnering majority votes on the confirmation exercise.
In constituencies where primary elections were held, Former ZBC DJ Ezra Sibanda was overwhelmingly voted for by the people of Lower Gweru giving him the green-light to represent the party in the next harmonised elections. He is likely to face off with Zanu (PF)’s Josphat Madubeko who is the sitting MP for the constituency.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe President Takavafira Zhou also got the nod to represent MDC-T in Mberengwa North currently vacant following the death of Zanu (PF)’s spy MP Jabulani Mangena.
Michael Timveos, Husband to MDC-T provincial chairperson Lilian Timvious was unopposed in Zvishavane-Runde and will therefore be the party’s candidate in the constituency occupied by Zanu (PF)’s Obert Matshalaga who is the former Deputy Home Affairs Minister.
Midlands State University lecturer Ishmael Jeko won the ticket to stand for MDC-T in Chirumanzu-Zibagwe which is held by Zanu (PF)’s Legal Affairs Secretary and Defence Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa.
