The appointments and party elections were conducted at a district assembly meeting addressed by Ncube on Friday at Chikomba District Council Hall. Outspoken MDC-T Ward Councillor Amos Reza was elected MDC Chikomba West District Executive in recognition of his ‘hard work’ for MDC in the constituency. He is set to stand as a council candidate on an MDC ticket in the coming election.
Arnold Chidodo, the former MDC-T 2008 Chief District Election Agent, also secured a high district party post and will contest as the MDC Chikomba West parliamentary candidate. Chenjerai Chako a former MDC-T councillor for ward 6 in the area and several other defectors filled various positions in the MDC district structures.
MDC deputy spokesperson Kurauwone Chihwayi described the former MDC-T officials as a rare breed of focused and hardworking politicians. “We elected the members to top party district positions in recognition of their selfless and dedication to party activities,” he said.
“MDC already has Chikomba Central in the pocket as our candidate Goodrich Chimbayira is poised to win the parliamentary seat. It is a foregone conclusion.” Chimbayira will be pitted against Pinnel Denga or sitting MP Moses Jiri both, from MDC-T.
