Midlands North MDC-T sitting MPs sail through

Five sitting MPs and Health Minister Henry Madzore, who is the Senator for Kwekwe, won the confirmation exercise to represent MDC-T in the next elections after the party wrapped up primary elections in Midlands North yesterday.

Only Rodgers Tazviona (Zhombe) will have to face other party candidates in primary elections scheduled to take place in a fortnight.

The MDC-T MPs who garnered two thirds majority “yes” votes are: Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo) Blessing Chebundo (Kwekwe Central), Arnold Sululu (Silobela) Edgar Matamisa (Kadoma) and Costin Muguti (Gokwe Kabuyuni).

In constituencies where there are no sitting MPs, former Zinasu leader, Joshua Chinyere, got the greenlight to stand for Gokwe Central . In Sanyati, Exavier Muzvidziwa won the primary poll to represent the party while Asiyatu Phiri won the intra-party race for Chakari constituency. The Redcliff primary poll was won by youth member, Happymore Chidziva.

MP Chikwinya got the highest number of “yes” votes. Out of 340 people who cast their vote in his constituency, only 13 voted against him.
