Nyahora chases history

After clinching gold in the Spar Women’s Challenge in Port Elizabeth last weekend, in-form athlete Rutendo Nyahora is now focused on making a clean sweep of the races sponsored by the South African retail chain.

The Zimbabwean runner romped home in 33 minutes 6 sec to win the 10 kilometre race, hot on the heels of her success in the Cape Town leg of the Spar Women’s Challenge.

The 24-year-old has now set her sights on the two remaining Spar Women’s Challenge editions slated for Durban and Johannesburg. Winning both races would make her the first athlete to win all Spar events in a single year.

“I have started brightly and remain in good form. Initially, my wish for this year was to win any of the Spar Women’s Challenges, but now I believe I can take all of them, starting with the Durban leg next month. I believe in myself and my training regime,” said Nyahora.
