Political patronage

EDITOR - While I agree that there is a need to rehabilitate ZEC and the RG’s office, I think it is important to acknowledge that the whole system is saturated in corruption.

Political patronage is largely to blame for the decay of our institutions.

We do not have men and women of integrity at the helm, but sycophants who dance, ululate, clap and praise their master, even when he is saying nothing of substance.

Therefore, an overhaul expansion, rather than a paradigm shift, is the response to the rot in state institutions and ailing parastatals. What is crucial is a change of the system, not the management.

To expect reformation of these institutions under Zanu (PF) is a notion that is fundamentally askew. – TICH, by e-mail
