PSL Round-up

Warriors trialist Devon Chafa, became the hero when he converted a penalty as Dynamos edged Caps United in the Harare Derby for the eighth consecutive time in four years.

The National Sports Stadium match, which carried the usual hype, was watched by a record 36 000 fans on Sunday. Dembare, who made a false start into this season in which they have shared the spoils six times in 10 games, are now three points shy of log leaders FC Platinum, who drew 1-1 with Monomotapa at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday.

The platinum miners led for the better part of the game, but conceded at the death to settle for a share of the spoils. The Harare derby saw Dembare coach, Calisto Pasuwa, field the striking pair of former Caps United players, Washington Pakamisa and Clive Kawinga in a 4-4-2 formation.

The two were offloaded by the Green Machine last season and ironically, it was Kawinga who provided the assist, after he was upended in the box by Arnold Chivheya. Chafa sent Caps’ goalminder, Tafadzwa Dube, in the wrong direction as his ferocious shot whistled into the net.

In another city derby at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo, Highlanders fell 1-2 to debutants How Mine in a biblical David versus Goliath affair. It was Bosso’s second loss of the season — and their second at home and put Bosso then at a disadvantage, as they headed off next to Monomotapa, the only side to have beaten them last season.

Other Results: Motor Action 2: 1 Shabanie Mine; Black Rhinos 0: 1 Chicken Inn; Black Mambas 2: 1 Buffaloes; Hwange 3: 1 Tripple B.
