PSL roundup

Triangle’s Gibbo Stadium will light up to a promising grudge match this weekend, when former Division One rivals Triangle and Buffaloes clash in a league encounter. The two sides’ rivalry dates back to 2010, when they battled for PSL promotion in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division 1.

Mutare-based army side Buffaloes won that battle in 2010, leaving Triangle to battle for the next two years, till they made it at the end of last season. The Saul Chaminuka-coached Bufaloes have had a two year-experience in the topflight league since then, but Gishon ‘Gizha’ Ntini, whose troops are still smarting from a 1-2 hiding at the hands of another army outfit, Black Rhinos will be up to dehorn Buffaloes.

On log standings, Buffaloes occupy a comfortable eighth position with 16 points, while their opponents lie second from the bottom at nine points with a similar number of 12 matches. While The Mutare side have lost seven times, Triangle have been defeated on just six occasions, an occurrence that could arouse their confidence ahead of the tie.

Highlanders who are now on the log summit following two big victories against Monomotapa (5-2) and Black Mambas (2-1) in their last two matches, travel to Matabeleland North for a date with struggling Hwange.

Bosso will bank on chief striker Njabulo ‘Tshiki’ Ncube, who missed the Mambas match with three yellow cards. Champions Dynamos welcome Black Rhinos at home oozing with confidence after DeMbare thumped Rhinos 2-0 on Satruday.

Chicken Inn face-off with Black Mambas at Luveve stadium, while Harare hosts a derby between Monomotapa and Caps United. FC Platinum date Harare City at home, while their cross-town rivals, Shabani Mine, host How Mine at Maglas.
