CAF Inspector, Matheus Joel Amadhila, visited the country from Namibia in January, ahead of the 2013 CAF Club Champions competition. Amadhila held a series of meetings with the HCC Department of Education, Health, Housing and Community Services, ZIFA and the Grounds Committee. He recommended that at least 1, 500 bucket seats be installed in the VIP and VVIP enclosure.

Some other tasks that have to be carried out to ensure that the stadium meets acceptable CAF and FIFA standards are: the purchase and installation of an all weather electronic scoreboard, surveillance cameras and the allocation of extra fuel coupons.

Amadhila also visited Gwanzura Stadium in Highfields. The two stadia belong to HCC.

The city fathers on April 16 resolved to embark on a phased maintenance programme of Rufaro.
