Warriors fall further on world rankings

The Warriors on Thursday continued their freefall on the Federation of International Football Associations/ Coca Cola World rankings.

According to the rankings table the international football mother body released from its Zurich, Switzerland headquarters, the underachieving Zimbabwe are now 105th after falling four places down over the past month.

Zimbabwe is a lowly 29th in Africa. The Warriors have had a disastrous past few months.

They are only playing for pride in the qualifiers for next year’s FIFA World Cup following a 2-1 defeat to resurgent Egypt.

At the end of April, neighbours Zambia beat an under-strength Warriors

2-0 in a match that marked the 20th anniversary of the air crash that wiped a fine generation of Zambian footballers.

At its peak, Zimbabwe was ranked among the best 40 teams in the world.

That was during the early 1990s when the team missed qualification for the 1994 world cup by a whisker.

Meanwhile, world champions Spain retained its position as the highest-ranked team.
