What Zimbabwe do you want?

Your voice, your hope – let your voice be heard Today we launch our MyZimbabwe campaign. This campaign is a call to action to Zimbabweans everywhere to look forward into a future filled with hope, rather than backwards into the abyss of misery that has characterised our lives for so long now. We stand on the brink of a new tomorrow and we need to face it with confidence and unity.

We are Zimbabweans. We have a future and a hope. The aim is to unite us all behind a single cause – bringing Zimbabweans, wherever they might be, together around a single powerful idea. It is a viral campaign that searches out the voices of Zimbabweans – their hopes and dreams for a better future for our country – and gives them wings by communicating them on every available platform.

The campaign includes viral videos, posters, web banners, bulk sms, widespread use of social media platforms (Facebook.com/thezimbabweanonline) and editorial content in the newspaper and on our website www.thezimbabwean.co.uk Through all these platforms the voices of the voiceless will be heard right across the world.

We shot several viral videos of Zimbabweans giving their hopes for the future. These have been posted on our Facebook page and other related Zimbabwean Facebook pages, as well as on the website and on Youtube. The idea is that these videos will encourage others to post their own video clips giving their voice about what they want for the future. People can also make their voices heard via our dedicated sms code (0771246400) and Twitter (#myzim). The content of the clips and the sms and Twitter posts will also be published in the newspaper every week during the campaign for the benefit of those without access to the internet.

In addition, the messages will be used to create content for new web banners to be shared with all our partners and supporting websites.

Since we began in 2005 The Zimbabwean has always been about access to information, in the belief that people deserve to know. We hope the MyZimbabwe campaign will take this commitment to a new level of community participation and freedom of expression.
