They were part of the 23-member Mthwakazi Youth Joint Resolution but later claimed to be members of ZAPU.
While acknowledging the effort and work done by the different political formations under the umbrella name Mthwakazi Youth Joint Resolution, the ZAPU Youth Front said it stood against divisions apparently pushed by the same grouping.
“Zapu Youth Front’s vision is for a country where tribe, race, gender or region are not factors that determine people’s living standards,” said the youths’ Secretary General, Future Msebele. “The 14 youths who claimed to be our members were acting of their own accord when they picketed with Mthwakazi Joint Youth Resolution. The Zapu Youth Front NEC did not sanction any form of demonstration on that day and we did not receive any invitation or communication from Mthwakazi Joint Youth Resolution.”
The 14 youths were accused of attacking ZAPU President Dumiso Dabengwa.
“These people who were masquerading as our members decided to use the platform to utter accusations about our party president. If these people are genuine Zapu members, why did they choose that platform to attack our president? If they had genuine concerns, they would have raised them within the party structures.”

it is unfortunate that some people behave this way i for one respect you Mr Msebele but the kind of language you used in your statement was and still is very provocative to us Zapu youths in Bulawayo we are not tribalists;the truths is amongst us there were youths from mashonaland who grewup here in bulawayo and are equally affected by the status quor maginalasation. and the fact that you are in south africa instead of zimbabwe bares testimony to our concern as bulawayo youth it is a fact that over 90percent of zimbabweans in diaspora did so agnaist thier will but because of the economic situation back home we at home we are not cowards like you thus why we are still at home doing the right thing trying to correct all the anomalies sometimes through demostrations. it is you snd the zapu leadership who didnt notice that what zesa did in itself was tribalism the minister of parastatals Mr gorden Moyo; Bulawayo Mayor Mr t Moyo; MDCs leadership all agree this was wrong to bus more than 300 people from harare to bulawayo for simple general jobs at the expance of locals. also concidering that over 101 companies have either relocated to harare or closed in the process rendering over 40 000 bulawayo people jobless this is totally unaxcetable you should learn to read the political situation do you think MDC and other civic were stupid in paying our bail they new that will score points for them people are tired of empty promises they want action this will surely cost zapu votes in matebeleland.
Thanks Mbonisi. Today the economic situation is chewing up everyone including the so-called perpetrators. ZAPU failed us in many ways we can’t even account for. When I was given the platform to address a ZAPU audience in Old Magwegwe Hall, the leaders warned me not to speak the Mthwakazi Youths Leaders Joint Resolution’s style. After my speech, I was relegated to the audience, yet ZAPU manifesto and conviction to change our political terrain in Mthwakazi is questionable to this day. ZAPU went to sleep on duty and woke up in a night mare. The youths who follow ZAPU are simply day dreaming. Zimbabwe has no system that allows Mthwakazi and its Citizens to participate as equals in politics, economy, social aspects, technology, environmental aspects and Legislative
promulgation.
