Animator joins forces with Baba Jukwa

The power of social media has reached Zimbabwe. Facebook has been set alight by the sensational revelations of Baba Jukwa, an anonymous character claiming to have links to the Politburo and the inner circle of Zanu (PF). Baba Jukwa’s following is growing by several thousand each day and he’s currently liked by over 140 000 people.

The animation causing waves on Facebook.

The fast rising popularity of Baba Jukwa has rattled the corridors of power, causing threats and allegations to abound. Not only that but it has provided a platform for people to express their discontent and expose what is happening in Zimbabwe. Policemen, army officers and party officials have all come forward with stories and information that has highlighted the utter corruption and desperation at the heart of Zanu (PF).

Following in Baba Jukwa’s footsteps, an unknown animator has joined the ranks of social media activists with the hilarious Nyoka and Kunyepa animation.

Featuring the bumbling CIO agents Nyoka and Kunyepa, the animation pokes fun at the machinations of election rigging and desperate attempts by the regime to hold on to power. It’s funny and politically charged.

Could this be the beginning of a wave of social media and citizen’s journalism that transforms Zimbabwe? Let’s hope so. Join the revolution of Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, and, as Baba Jukwa would say, Asijiki!
