According to the latest money list released by the PGA Tour on Monday after the weekend’ tournaments, De Jonge is now placed 49th in the top 100 with a total amount of $1, 063, 640 above such reknowned names like Luke Donald who is 51st with a total of $1, 040, 690, Jim Furyk who is 53rd on $985, 195 as well as Zach Johnson who is in 59th position with $898, 173.
The 32 year old De Jonge who was born in Harare on July 18, 1980, but resides in North Carolina in the United States could improve on his money earnings as he takes part in the lucrative US Open that starts Thursday.
This will be followed by another appearance at the Travellers Championship that runs from June 20. De Jonge is hoping that, by the end of the year, he will do better than the 34th position he achieved on the PGA money list in 2010 after seven top 10 finishes. That is his highest placing on the list so far.
World number one Tiger Woods leads the pack with $5, 862, 496, followed by Matt Kuchar with $4, 333, 082, and Brandt Snedeker with $4,330,064.
Former world number one Phil Mickelson is fourth with $2, 721, 880. Ireland’s Rory Mcllroy, who became the darling of the international golf scene during the period Tiger Woods went off form due to his marriage problems, is placed 32nd on the money list with a total of $1, 353, 263. The former world number one sits just above Sergio Garcia who has accumulated $1, 353, 263.
De Jonge is the reigning Zimbabwe Sportsperson of the Year, the second golfer after Nick Price to be accorded that honour.
