According to the Ministry of Finance, the seven procurement packages are at different levels of implementation. The project is being funded by the African Development Bank as part of the Zimbabwe Multi-Donor Trust Fund to the tune of $35 million.

The contract for the sub-transmission system reinforcement package was awarded in January 2013.
