Bosso, fighting to win their first league crown in six years, have lost all two of their first round derby matches – 1-0 to How Mine and most recently, 2-1 to Chicken Inn. Mpofu told The Zimbabwean this week that his side’s spirited performance was part of a plan to end the season in a respectable position, like last season, when they ended third on the log.
Beating Highlanders was also part of a well-planned priority, added Mpofu.“Our priority is to beat all the big teams especially here in Bulawayo because should we do so, it would in turn be easier for us to maintain our form and finish the league in top four,” he said. “We also aimed to win one of the major trophies on offer and that has been achieved with the Net One Charity Cup that we won at the beginning of the season. The morale is very high in the team and everyone wants to do it for the late former coach, Adam Ndlovu, who worked quite hard to put the club on the right track. We have the quality of players we need to deliver the good results and come end of the season, we will one of the top clubs.”
The coach especially rock-solid defender Felix Chidungwe and young midfield sensation, Kudakwashe Mahachi, whose skills are amazing, while striker Tendai Ndoro, with nine goals so far, would also be a vital assert in their quest for the top.
“Ndoro is very skilful, fast and possesses striking prowess that very few strikers locally can lay claim to and he will be one of our key man this season. That however, does not mean the others are not as good. We have a good crop of players deserving to be in this club and I am happy with the team I have.”
