In the under 20 category Tapiwa Gora of Churchill was the winner with 6,5 points.He drew his last game to come up with a gold medal for his Province.
Meanwhile in the under 20 category former women National Champion Colleta Wakuruwarehwa was the winner with a perfect score.She won all her 7 games winning a gold medal for Mashonaland West Province.
Victor Muchemwa of Gifford won a gold medal in the under 16 boys category with a perfect score again.He survived the chop from Tevor Macheka of Mabvuku Harare as well as Tapiwa Chikwavaire of Harare again.Bhekile Ndlovu won the under 14 category easily with 6,5 points drawing his last game against Tinashe Mapfumo of St.Ignatius College who came second.
Meanwhile in the under 18 girls category WCM Paidaishe Zengeni of St.Johns Emerald Hill,Harare won the category with 6,5 points.She only drew one game against Tariro Mwendamberi of the same school.Mashonaland West came first ahead of Bulawayo and Harare respectively.The winners will represent Zimbabwe Junior chess team in Egypt from September1-11.
Hope that the team will bring another gold medal and a Titles to beat last year's record.Meanwhile Zimbabwe lost one of its Arbiters Reuben Muza a former teacher.He will be missed by many chess players.May his soul rest in peace.
