Most of the time he was out of the team, and in the few incidents he was in the team he was an unused substitute. The “Smiling Assassin”, who was on loan to Augsburg from TSG Hoffenheim, said he spent most of the season without much, despite doing the best he could to guarantee himself a starting slot at the struggling side.
“It was frustrating. Sometimes I was on the bench and sometimes I was out of the team completely. It was a hard time for me,” said Musona, who was still not sure of what the future held for him in the Bundesliga.
He said that given another chance at Augsburg, he would work even harder to try to secure a first team place. Musona’s future in the topflight football league does not lie in his own hands, as he has a contract with Hoffenheim, who can either decide to recall him or extend his loan to Augsburg, depending on whether the latter still need his services.
Augsburg survived relegation after they finished fourth from bottom in the 18-team league, but Hoffenheim have to win the play-offs to be sure, after they finished a position below. Two clubs suffer automatic relegation.
Musona made a big money move from current South African champions, Kaizer Chiefs, to Hoffenheim at the beginning of the 2011/12 season after a very impressive showing in the Absa Premiership.
