“We have been heavily relying on temporary nurses to plug gaps in our nursing department. Therefore we decided to employ 112 nurses plus one senior nutritionist,” the Director of Health Services Department, Stanley Mungofa, told The Zimbabwean.
The municipality’s Human Resources and General Purposes Committee tasked Mungofa to review the nursing staff establishment at Hatfield Polyclinic due to an influx of patients visiting the clinic.
Harare Metropolitan runs two infectious hospitals, Beatrice Infectious Disease and Wilkins Hospital, 12 polyclinics plus several satellite clinics in locations such as Budiriro, Hopley, Kuawadzana Extension among others.
