Suspect MDC supporters turned away

Zanu PF supporters turned away some suspected Movement for Democratic Change supporters during the chaotic primaries that are underway here.

This comes as the party has accepted everyone to vote regardless of existing party membership.

At the Youth Centre polling station in Ward 2 in Chikangwe high density surburb at least 15 people were turned away amid allegations that they were MDC supporters.

"I went there to cast my vote as I am in party structures but some youths aligned to Godknows Rwere turned us away claiming i am an MDC supporter. I never thought there is a purge against anyone during party primaries. Its unfortunate the woman police officer could not assist us to go ahead and vote," complained one resident, Obert Mukina. Rwere is fighting out with Ganizani Chimutokoma in party primaries that have been characterised by poor planning.

During the 2008 elections the MDC led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai snatched all ten wards.

Meanwhile, voting continued this afternoon at Tambawadya primary school although it was scheduled have ended by mid day.
