“Ndlovu was shot while sitting between two speakers at the back of our Toyota van, which I was driving and did not even speak to the killer,” said Mlambos band manager, Thabani Ndlovu, who survived the first of the trigger-happy businessman’s 10 bullets.
The businessman later wounded five other people, one of them fatally, as he shot through the window to scare an angry crowd that banged his locked shop door demanding answers.
MDC-T provincial organising member for South Africa, Butholezwe Nyathi, said the party would organise protests for all the court sessions on the matter.
“It is high time Zimbabweans united to stop such acts from recurring. We cannot be killed in cold blood and later have lies broadcast against us. We are human beings, not animals,” said Nyathi.
Zapu Diaspora spokesman, Luke Sayi, called on witnesses to come forward, while fellow musicians mourned. “Suppah was my best friend in the rhumba genre and I will always miss him. I wish his killer could get the sentence he deserves – life in jail.” – Gospel singer, Marvellous Sibanda.
“This is a loss to all of us as Zimbabweans and reminds us that we are only visitors on earth, set to leave one by one.” – Charles Zwane, Ndolwane Super Sounds.
“Last year, another singer and friend of mine, Crazy Xoli, was stabbed to death at the same place, again by a Somali businessman. I am happy that, because of factual media houses like The Zimbabwean, the story has finally been corrected.” – Kwaito whizzkid, DJ Mapressa.
