Amidu geared up

Former Black Aces attacking midfielder, Brett Amidu, said this week that he was hopeful of making a mark in South Africa’s ABSA Premiership, where he will be trading leather in the green and white of Amazulu.

Coming as a relative unknown, having only played in the First Division back home, Amidu believed he would make the same kind of impact made as countryman Knowledge Musona.

“It is always great to play in one of the most competitive leagues on the continent. This is one of the leagues I grew up admiring and wishing to play and now that the time has come, I am ready to do my best here,” said the Zimbabwean, who replaced Ramson Zhuwawo, who was recently shipped out of Usuthu.

Amidu said he enjoyed the pre-season. “I came here to score goals and I want to prove my worth by helping the team finish the season in a Top8 position. We do have that potential, with the quality players in the team showing that they are capable of taking us to the top.”

Amidu scored seven goals for Aces last season, although the side was later relegated to the second division.

“I feel bad that I failed to help Aces stay in the First Division, but life has to go on and I have new challenges to face now. I will keep fighting to remain in the top wherever I play.”
