The striker is currently on the books of Limpopo-based Black Leopards, who were relegated to the second-tier league at the end of last season.
With a number of former key players having already ditched the side, fighting their way back to the top will be tougher for Lidoda Dhuva, so Amidu does not entertain the prospects of going down with them.
“After the ordeal that befell us in the past few months, I face the prospect of playing in the First Division if none of the top sides signs me. That is not what I want,” said the striker, considered the future of the Zimbabwean national team. “I believe that I am too good for division one football, but should my search for a top club bring me no results, I will have no choice but to play in the first division.”
Amidu was off-loaded by Johannesburg-bag current ABSA Premiership champions, Kaizer Chiefs, two seasons ago, but rediscovered his touch and played one of his best seasons with Leopards last season. He nearly became the club’s messiah when he scored a number of match-winning goals and helped them come close to surviving the chop.
“I remain confident that when the season kicks off, there will be offers from some PSL clubs, which I will take. There are some promises, but I have not signed anything with anyone yet.”
