Ballots run out at station

Ballots ran out at Gwakwe Primary School in Guruve North, Mashonaland Central and polling had to stop for about an hour and 30 minutes.

The ballots, The Zimbabwean witnessed, ran out at 3pm and more were supplied at around 440pm.

In a another dramatic incident at the same station, the police chased away the two MDC-N polling agents, claiming they were not accredited.

The Presiding Officer, Tsitsi Munaki, said she was not aware why the police chased away the agents, but confirmed the incident.

Kudakwashe Chimanikire, the MDC-N council candidate for the area, insisted the agents had been accredited. As a result of the stoppage in voting, there was a stampede when new ballots arrived.

By 4pm, 758 voters had cast their ballots at the station, with 399 of them being females. 16 were turned away and 70 were assisted.
