Barker happy with new catch

Pretoria University coach, Steve Barker, recently rejoiced at the signing of former Highlanders and national team winger, Obadia Tarumbwa, who has been on his wanted list since the beginning of last season.

The skillful player is regarded as one of the best signings so far in the PSL.

“I am happy that we have signed a player of his type. He is one of the best players we have in the team right now. He is just world class. I am impressed with his high work-rate,” said Barker.

“Believe me, he has come to add some balance in the team because his experience will bring a huge change to the team. He has shown us what he is really made of during the training sessions and few friendly matches we have played so far.”

Tarumbwa once formed a deadly combination with Ralph Matema during their days at Highlanders, where they helped the Bulawayo giants to the 2006 PSL championship under Methembe Ndlovu, who later helped the player get a contract in Belgium and Cyprus, where he played for FC Paralimni.

He joins other Zimbabweans, goalkeeper Washington Arubi and goalkeeper trainer Tendai Tanyanyiwa at the AmaTuks side.
